Property highlights
Overview
Russ and Cathy Glenz have lived in Bridgewater for 10 years and are lifelong Beaver County residents. Russ is a local history buff and Cathy loves antiques. They both have an enthusiasm for older homes, restoring them, and for beautiful art. Those passions proved useful when they purchased a circa 1907 home on Riverside Drive in West Bridgewater’s Historic District to return it to its former grandeur and transform it into a bed and breakfast. They spent four years working with local contractors and businesses and a great deal of personal effort to renovate this 2.5-story American Foursquare home.
There is a great deal of history here, as the area was frequented by well-known historical figures such as Matthew Brady, Aaron Burr, Lewis and Clark, and the Harmony Society. The nearby Fort McIntosh site was the first US military fort on the north side of Ohio just around the bend on the river.
A few other highlights to enjoy: Merrick Art Gallery is open to the public and houses paintings from around the world. An extensive genealogy center operates in the historic Beaver County Rail Station, and numerous museums and antique stores are nearby.
The Riverside B & B is less than an hour away from Pittsburgh, its sports attractions, museums, and restaurants, so it makes an easy day trip into the city a wonderful adventure.
